Motherhood is demanding! It is so easy to lose yourself in that day’s tasks and put yourself last. But you are worth the time, effort and money to invest in a skin care routine that works for you and makes your skin glow. When I moved to Florida, I used it as a chance to reset many parts of my life, skin care being one of them. I am so happy that I did! I found that I needed to change the products I was using because of our move to a warmer, more humid climate. Your skin may even need different products at different times of the year. Be patient and keep trying products if your skin isn’t responding the way you want. The right product is out there!
Don’t be lazy:
Using facial wipes or going to bed without washing your makeup off at all may give you a few extra minutes of sleep, but the negatives outweigh the positives every time on this one.
Do take the time to wash your face properly:
Take an extra minute to use a good cleanser and water. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells that dull your skin. A Clarisonic is the best investment if you’re looking for the deepest clean.
Don’t look for a quick fix:
Botox and plastic surgery may seem like the simplest solution, but you still have to feed your skin the proper nutrition. Investing in quality products (nutrition for your skin) not only saves you money in the long run, but also gives you lasting natural results.
Do invest in quality products:
Anti-aging serums and eye creams can act as botox in a bottle. Products that are full of peptides, antioxidants and amino acids stimulate collagen to tighten and brighten your skin.
Don’t waste your money on cheap products:
I’m all for a discount, but not when it comes to your skin care. Infomercial, Groupon and BOGO products aren’t catered to your individual skin’s needs and end up giving you minimal results at best.
Do invest in products that work for you:
Visit a licensed professional who will examine your skin, current skin care regimen and determine what you truly need to get the results you want. Invest in the products that work on your skin and that achieve the results you want. You are worth it mama, you are so worth it.
Don’t pile on the makeup:
Unless you’re headed to a big event, it’s best to let your skin breathe as much as possible. The goal of skin care is to correct, not cover up. If you finding yourself using makeup on a particular part of your skin to cover up dryness or discoloration, seek out products that can assist in changing that – don’t just cover it up.
Do use only a few products for flawless skin:
BB cream, mineral foundation powder and mascara are all you need for a put-together look – and it will save you time, too!
Don’t use a product just because your friend does:
Just because a product works for your friend doesn’t mean it will work for you! Skin care is not one size fits all.
Do develop a routine that works best for your skin type:
Introducing too many new products can irritate your skin. Find a skin care regimen that gives you results and stick to it for as long as possible.
So when it comes down to it, your skin is incredibly important. And taking care of your skin every day with the right schedule and the right product is something that should not be limited by what’s on sale or even what works for someone else. Take time to invest in yourself. Take time to try what you feel will work uniquely for you … and the resulting smile on your face will be a great complement to the refreshing glow of your skin!
