To say that I am not ready to leave this fictional town forever would be an understatement. I love this world that Catherine has created because the place feels so real when you read about it. We read the first book in this series, Whispers of You, for book club last year and I hope it got everyone hooked on this world.
Ashes of You is the last book in the series that you can read it as a standalone. However, there are a lot of ‘spoiler’ type reveals in this one – primarily which couples from previous books are married, getting married or are having a baby – so if you’d like to avoid spoiling some of their stories, I’d suggest you begin with Whispers of You. The wait for Hallie and Lawson is worth it!
Ashes of You Summary:
Lawson is in need of a nanny to help him organize life as a single dad to three boys. He’s growing more and more frustrated with the candidates the agency is sending him until a woman from his past shows up for an interview. Lawson was on a search and rescue call when Hallie went missing five years ago and he was the one who found her in the woods. He’s always wondered what happened to her and he’s shocked to see her at his house for an interview. Before he can come up with a reason why this gorgeous, tempting woman shouldn’t take the job, his boys fall hard for her sweet personality and he offers her the job. Hallie is still struggling with adjusting to life on her own after the entire ordeal she went through five years ago and getting this job is the first big step toward reclaiming her life. When women in town go missing, matching the events that surrounded Hallie’s disappearance five years ago, Lawson becomes protective of her and can no longer deny his attraction to his boy’s nanny. Will Lawson and the rest of the Cedar Ridge PD be able to catch the person responsible before it’s too late?
