One of my daughter’s favorite movies was Finding Nemo. In anticipation of the new movie Finding Dory, my daughter and I are having a lot of fun with all the Finding Dory products that are available. Because she’s so excited about the movie, we started making snacks and desserts that are Dory themed. I’ve always had her with me in the kitchen while I’m baking or cooking. Lately she’s been wanting to do things on her own so I try to make up recipes that are easy enough for her to make. It’s also teaching her to share which is something that we are constantly working on. We pack up the snacks and take them to daycare for her friends.
What you will need:
We used Graham Crackers, Cereal and Gold Fish Crackers.
But you can add popcorn, marshmallows, nuts, or anything else you like to snack on.
Simply dump everything into a large bowl and mix.
Caught her sneaking a taste!
Then divide in to individual bags to share with your friends. This is guaranteed the easiest snack mix you will ever make.
Bonus:
We also had so much fun making this Finding Dory inspired cake.
If you do a general search for “fish shaped cakes” on Pinterest, a few will pop up. We used one courtesy of Create.Share.Repeat
We made our cake from a box cake mix – no need to make from scratch. Of course it had to be Blue Velvet cake. Sophie wanted to make a cake “all by herself” so the tutorial on Create. Share. Repeat was very easy for her to follow (with my help and supervision of course).
What you will need:
1 box blue velvet cake
1 container blue icing
1 container white icing
yellow food coloring
a tube of black icing
1 jumbo marshmallow
This is our before:
And the final product.
(for the eye, simply cut the giant marshmallow in half and place on the cake, then add a dot of black icing.)
Proud girl!
