If you have been around for a while, you’ve read about my love of Lo’s writing beginning with her debut novel. I have been a part of her team since before she published her first book. It continues to be a honor to receive author’s words before everyone else and my role as a critique partner is an honor. Force Play is the fourth book in her Mile-High Hearts series.

If you have not started this series yet, I do recommend starting with All on the Line to get the background of all the characters in Force Play.

Mood Board for Force Play by Lo Everett

Force Play follows Dom and Indie who have spent the last three books exchanging playful barbs at each other and generally seem to not get along… but as fans of the enemies to lovers or frenimes to lovers tropes know, that only sets up great tension between characters and someone (or both) aren’t ready to acknowledge their real feelings.

Book Summary:

Indie is ready for change. She’s been strung along at work for too long – she’s been promised a promotion for her continued hard work but it is taken away from her and she’s just done. She’s no longer attached to staying in Chicago and since most of her friends are in Denver, she decides to move. Once she’s in Denver, she has to work to get her medical team in place considering her family history of ovarian cancer. Throughout this journey, she works to keep all her medical worries from her girlfriends. But she cannot seem to hide from her one night stand from a year ago, Dom. Dom left their night together ready to work for Indie’s heart, he wants the long lasting love that his parents have for himself and is sure that Indie is his happily ever after. But Indie has medical hurdles to clear before she is willing to think about forever, will she let Dom in fully to make their own version of happy?

Rating:
