A day you should know about is Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving…but I can see how it can get lost in the Black Friday, Small Business Saturday & Cyber Monday shuffle!
The social enterprise world is still new to some people after all these years, but let me be the first to tell you that Giving Tuesday is the perfect way to start your involvement and engagement with businesses that give back.
Since its founding in 2012, Giving Tuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.
There is more than 80 national movements, 260 communities worldwide participating and millions of acts of generosity! Seriously good stuff! So many people are embracing the social enterprise philosophy and I could not be happier! {It’s the little things that excite me, you know?!}
Giving Tuesday is a movement to celebrate and provide incentives to give. A way to support businesses that are dedicated to giving back (even if for only one day). This effort harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partnersโnonprofits, businesses and corporations as well as families and individualsโto transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
Giving Tuesday inspires people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they celebrate and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media to create a global moment dedicated to giving around the world! Genius idea I tell you…genius.
