For moms on the go, easy snacks are a lifesaver. Unfortunately, the easy snacks are not always the healthiest snacks. And if they’re healthy — like organic squeeze applesauce — they can get costly at $.99 each. So, we decided to make our own. We made all of our own baby food, so why not!
I did a lot of searching online and eventually found the Infantino line of pouches called “Fresh Squeezed“. You can get disposable (and recyclable) pouches, and washable and reusable pouches as well. You have to buy everything separately, but it’s worth it in the long run — especially if your kids enjoy the squeezies! All three of our kids love them … 11, 9 and 1.
It takes just a few minutes to make your own squeezy snacks, and it’s really simple! Here is what I do.
In a small saucepan, combine the following:
1 banana (diced)
1 pear (diced)
1 carrot (diced)
1/2 cup of water
Cook on the stove for 15 minutes on low. Stir and mash along the way. Once cooled, blend with a food processor. Viola!
Now all that’s left to do is put it in the pouches! You will need the little contraption to actually get the puree into the bags … then you just label your pouches with the date and the name of the mix, and cap each one. Storage: 48 hours in the fridge; 2 months in the freezer.
What homemade snacks do you make? There are so many different options. We are trying spinach, kale and apple next! I’d love more ideas to add to our collection!
I just got the squeeze station for Christmas! I’m excited to start making our own pouches (as my 2 year old calls them)! Thanks for the recipe.
O.M.G. Eryn! I am checking these out! My kids looooove the Squeezable applesauces but they are way expensive and only some flavors. Have you gotten reusable pouches? where? I am checking amazon to get this right away! Thanks for the tip!
I hope you found it on Amazon!! If not-target sells it online!
