April is Autism Awareness month and social media star Cory Singer is an inspirational autism advocate that uses his music and personal insights about having autism himself to show that anything is possible, no matter the disability.
Cory Singer has become a Social Media & TikTok sensation as an autism advocate, coining the phrase “Let’s Normalize Autism.” In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cory took to TikTok and decided to share his journey with autism. He has since become an influencer and an advocate for children, families and adults who are on the spectrum. With over 404k followers and 13.2 million likes (TikTok) and full verification across Twitter, FB & Instagram he promotes positivity by inspiring others with his unique brand, music and personal experiences having autism himself.
New Jersey native Cory Singer is an accomplished singer-songwriter/musician and theater performer. Cory has performed in arenas before thousands nationwide. He starred on BRAVO TV’s singing competition “The Kandi Factory,” winning the grand prize (single and music video release). Multi Grammy Award winner Kandi Burruss penned Cory’s winning song “I Can Do Anything.”
Cory performs both acoustically and with his full band. He captivates his audiences no matter the venue or event. His single “Blind in Love” (the first of a six-song series) was released on July 20, 2018, to worldwide critical acclaim. His next release, “Everybody Sing,” a track produced in Memphis by Wes Edmonds (member of Wyclef Jean’s production team), came out on December 7, 2018. On April 13, 2019, he followed up with “Girl.” That year, Cory split his time between participating in the pre-production of several shows in New York and New Jersey and writing and recording new music.
Singer just released his newest single “Break of Dawn” on 3/29/2022. Cory says, “My inspiration for this song is to give others who live with disabilities hope that all things are possible and we are all loved.” This song was exclusively premiered in Hollywood Life, and is a follow up to his smash hit “Someone” which was world premiered in People Magazine during Autism Awareness Month (2021).
The instrumentation in “Break of Dawn” led by Cory Singer on guitar and the legendary band “The Mechanics” mixes many components of pleasurable rhythm guitar, funky percussion, and a lively melodious acoustic lead guitar. This easy going blend compliments the joyful lyrics well, and overall makes this an effortless listening experience. The lyrics express the ecstasy of the “rush” to your heart a newfound love brings, and the emotional and physical sensations that come along with it. Singer’s vocals bring these lyrics to another level as he impressively uses many elements of his voice, while artistically layering harmonies within the chorus that elevate the ambient luster of Singer’s vocals.
The emerging indie artist is also an exceptional songwriter in his own right. His original songs are in high demand. Country supergroup The Highway Women featured in Forbes recorded his song “The Devil” in 2018.
Cory began his career in 2005 as a musical theater performer. Through 2013, he celebrated many achievements as an actor, including a 2011 NJ Perry Award Nomination for his role in “Seussical The Musical” (The Mayor) and a 2013 Broadway World nomination for Best Vocalist for his role in Joe DiPietro’s “The Last Romance” at the Bickford Theater. Cory re-entered the theater world in 2019 in the roles of Young Buddy in Westfield Community Players’ “Follies” in May (2019) and Matt Volpe in the award-winning original musical “They Call it Gravy, We Call it Sauce” with Music Jar Productions in October at the Bound Brook Theater.
Recently he has joined forces with the powerful “I Am Able” foundation as a part of their advisory board. “I Am Able” is a growing movement that aims to share the message that any individual that is diagnosed with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurodivergent challenges is able to obtain an easy diagnosis and achieve their goals just as easily despite any obstacles.
