The first broken jaw in the family….
My son had a mishap on his way to school while riding his bike. He fell and hit his chin on the concrete. Yes, he had a helmet on, but there was no way it could have helped him. There was blood from the scrapes and cuts, but little did we know that there were broken bones as well.
I could tell that he was clearly in shock of the situation. He cried that he was in pain and could not close his mouth. I instantly knew something was wrong, because out of all four of my children, he is the least likely to cry about something.
Sure enough, upon arrival to AdventHealth for Children’s emergency department, and after a CT scan, both sides of his jaw were broken. It is a random fall and the impact caused both “poles” that connect the jaw to break.
