February’s Book of the Month is “Let’s Call a Truce” by Amy Buchanan!
I am so very thankful to Amy, she had her publisher send me a EARLY copy of her debut novel back in June. I reread Juliana and Ben’s story recently and it hits home even more now that I am no longer a stay at home mom and am navigating that working mom life.
From the nods to our city, to the banter, to the handling of some heavy emotions with the upmost care – Let’s Call a Truce is a love letter to moms everywhere and a reminder that no matter what life throws our way, our greatest strength already lies within us.
Let’s Call a Truce Summary:
Newly single mom, Juliana, is back at work following the passing of her husband. She’s navigating all of the real emotions of losing a life partner while also trying to hold it together for her young daughters. She is understandably nervous on her first day of work and when she has to cut a meeting short with a handsome coworker, she overhears him bad mouthing her and her ability to do her job. This conversation sets off two years of bickering and pranks pulled between the two of them. Fast forward two years and Ben and Juliana are still at each other’s throats, but life throws them curveballs when they’re forced to work together on a huge project that has big implications on their futures at work and when they discover their daughters are now best friends.
