July’s Book of the Month is The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes!
I adore this world that Jennifer Lynn Barnes has created and was feeling like I needed to revisit by favorite heiress. If you have not read this book before, I hope you enjoy this fast paced, twisty novel. If you’ve already read it, I hope you consider a reread and seeing if you catch anything this time that you may have missed on your first read. There are three other published novels in this series with another coming! They all do build on each other and the world gets complicated quick, so I recommend not spacing them out if you’re planning on reading more!
The Inheritance Games Summary:
Avery Grambes’ life is dramatically changed when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne leaves her his entire fortune. The oddest part? She has never met the billionaire. As stipulated in his will, Avery must move into Hawthorne Mansion for the next year to claim his money… with the family that he slighted in his will. The Hawthorne family is beyond unhappy about this turn of events. Grayson, the grandson everyone thought would inherit their grandfather’s fortune, is sure that Avery is a conwoman and is determined to prove it. Jameson Hawthorne is certain that Avery, much like everything else their grandfather did, is just a piece of one last puzzle the old man left them with. With so much to gain, and even more to lose, will Avery survive the year in Hawthorne Mansion?
This books is also a good one to read with your older kiddos – I would recommend 12 and up but it makes for fun conversations around what you would do with all that money, the riddles that Tobias has left the family and thoughts on what it going to come next for Avery and the whole Hawthorne family.
