I recently did a bit of spring cleaning, and realized that we have too much stuff! I needed to declutter and get rid of a bunch of things. I didn’t just want to donate everything; I wanted to make a little cash so I decided to consign in Orlando.

My go-to places are usually eBay and Facebook, but they can be such a hassle. You question whether it’s worth it between the fees and shipping. Not to mention that you get a lot of time-wasters who ask many questions only to leave you hanging.

I ended up cleaning out our closets and going through all the clothes, shoes, and purses. Then, I went through our LEGO and Pokémon card collections. All in all, I found some great places in and around Orlando that pay cash for your items.

Consign in Orlando: Kids’ clothes and toys

Once Upon a Child

multiple locations

There should be one close to you with seven locations in and around Orlando. The store I went to was the Waterford Lakes store. I had a good experience and bought new and gently used clothes and toys there. Remember that they don’t take everything you bring and usually ask for specific items/sizes that can change daily/week. It’s best to call them before heading out. Also, go early because I once went 2 hours before closing, and they told me they were not accepting anything else because they were full. They don’t keep anything overnight; you must pick it up the same day. Be sure to bring your driver’s license at pick up so they can confirm your identity and pay you.

Play It Again Sports

multiple locations

Are you looking to get rid of sporting equipment? This might be the place for you. I haven’t been to this yet, but I have heard good things about it. They have one in Winter Springs and one in Altamonte Springs.

Orlando Brick Co.

480 S Ronald Reagan Blvd suite 1000, Longwood, FL 32750

Are you looking to get rid of that pile of LEGO? Orlando Brick Co. is one of the largest building brick toy stores with more LEGO products than you have ever seen in one place! We recently learned about this place and took the kids; it was better than the regular LEGO store! The staff is incredible, and the variety is fantastic — new sets, old sets, already-built sets, mini-figures, and more. We initially went there to get something for the kids but found out they also buy your new/used LEGO items, and you don’t need an appointment.

Big League Cards

920 FL-436, Casselberry, FL 32707

Do you have a bunch of trading cards that you’re looking to sell? Big Leagues is the place for you. They’re located in Casselberry, and they mostly buy Pokemon and Sports cards. The staff is super nice, but they are selective about the cards they buy. Their website states that you need an appointment to sell, but I’ve seen them take walk-ins. Your best bet is to call them to ask!

Consign in Orlando: Designer clothes or Disney merch

Plato’s Closet

multiple locations

They have about eight locations in and around Orlando, and it’s the best place to send in trendy clothes, like the ones teenagers like to wear. They also take in Disney clothing, accessories, and backpacks. I like that they give you an itemized receipt so you know how much you’re getting for each item. I do have to warn you: don’t expect to get much cash from them, but if you’re in a hurry to get rid of items, they’re a good choice. They take some men’s styles, mainly athletic wear.

Style Encore

610 North Alafaya Trail Orlando, FL 32828

This store is located right next to Plato’s Closet, so I went to both on the same day. Whenever they didn’t take items at Plato’s, I took them to Style Encore. That’s when I realized that Style Encore focuses less on trendy and more on classic styles. They recently started accepting men’s clothes.

Gatorlillys

multiple locations

Did someone say, Lilly Pulitzer? Gatorlillys is one of my favorite resale stores, not just because all their boutiques are aesthetically pleasing but because I never leave empty-handed! It defeats the purpose of selling, but you should still take your clothes there because you might have a stronger will than me. With four locations, they mainly take Lilly Pulitzer (clothing and accessories)  but also accept Lululemon and Tori Burch sandals. The owner is the one that does the buyout, so if you visit one of their 4 locations and she’s not in, they can still accept it and will call you back when she makes it to the store.

Dechoes

Multiple locations

Are you looking to sell your designer items? Dechoes is the place for you. They take designer, vintage, and modern clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories. They have two locations in Orlando, but you have to make an appointment to sell. You can do it online or via their app. I tried talking a bag to them but did not go through with the sale because their offer was low. But they’re a good option if you’re looking for an easy way to sell.

Designers Seconds

110 N Orlando Ave, Maitland, FL 32751

This place has been on my list for quite some time, but I haven’t been able to go yet, although I have heard good things about it. Their website states that it’s best to call them to check what brand/season they are currently accepting and to make an appointment.

In order to consign in Orlando, you need to have a lot of patience. Consignment don’t always take everything and you need to be strategic about when you go and what you take. But with a little patience, strategic planning, you can make some money instead of just donating.

Frances Mendez
Born and raised in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Mother of a 7 year old boy and 6 year old girl and wife to an amazing husband. She’s new to Orlando but not new to crafting. When she was 9 years old she and a friend made 25 bracelets with lace, string, hot glue and velcro and took them to school expecting to sell one or two. To her surprise, they sold all of them, although Frances went on to sell Pokemon cards after that, she always knew she liked both crafting and business. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in International Business in 2012. When she was a few weeks shy of her 24th birthday, using all of her savings, she bought a repossessed 2 story house with 2 apartments on the second floor, so she was a landlord for 9 years before the house was sold. When she was pregnant with her oldest in 2016, she felt a strong desire to sew, she had always liked the idea of sewing but never really used a machine before. Her husband bought her a sewing machine for Mother’s day and she soon became obsessed with sewing, which then led her to start Crafty Franny. While Crafty Franny has been through many different stages, one thing has remained the same, Frances loves to craft. Crafty Franny is an active member of the Avalon Park Arts and Culture center and also offers sewing classes to the Avalon Park community.
