The Simplicity of Homemade Gifts:
3 Practical Homemade Gift Ideas
There’s something about getting a homemade gift that really puts an extra sparkle into Christmas. Mainly because you know that the giver put thought, time, and care into creating a special moment to remember during the holiday. I’m a big fan of homemade gifts, and I’m not just talking about the kid-related ones either.
I know it may sound intimidating, especially with all the hustle and bustle during this time of year. WHICH, you’re probably thinking “WHEN will I find time to make something?” To be honest there are many things that are easy and cost-effective too. (We all know homemade/DIY gifts can start to add up.)
I love this time of year, but it can most definitely be very stressful for me, especially knowing how many people I have to buy for along with budgeting it into our expenses. Last year I started making homemade gifts and it honestly helped to relieve some of the built up stress. I made DIY candles, hand scrub, and a family picture to my extended family members. It was a hit, plus now I know how to make candles and hand scrub! WIN WIN in all situations! 😉
1. Cookies & Jam

The other week I received homemade cookies and blueberry jam (in a mason jar which makes it that much better! 😉 ) from one of my dear friends. She even shared the story about how her family went to the blueberry farm in Florida and picked them. This is an amazing gift that may call for a little planning throughout the year, but I haven’t found one person who doesn’t love homemade cookies and sweet tasting jam! Throw these babies into a festive tin and mason jar… you’ve got yourself a delicious homemade gift! Where can you find cost-efficient tins? Dollar Tree is my favorite! They even have pretty ribbon you can wrap around it too!

2. Stenciled Coasters
Do you know how easy it is to stencil cork board? I recently found square and round coasters already pre-cut at Hobby Lobby, along with fun stencils to personalize the coasters. This is a very easy gift! I completed 7 sets within 2 hours all for under $30! Not bad, plus I love the look of them. Everyone can always use extra coasters throughout the year. It’s a practical gift.
