If you have never read one of Willow’s books, take this as a sign to pick up one ASAP. I feel in love with Willow’s story telling when I read Autumn Nights and Summertime. Those characters led me into her Landmark Mountain series… and those led me to the Single Dad Playbook series. A full series about single dad, football players living in the most adorable small town? Sign me up. I loved the first two in this series, but there was some kind of special magic in Reckless love. Within the first chapters, I was fully invested in Rhodes and Elle getting their long fought happily ever after. This book has some of my all time favorite tropes: friends to lovers, unrequited love (but it’s really come from the both of them), small town and found family.

Reckless Love by Willow Aster book cover with couple embracing on the beachReckless Love Summary:

Rhodes and Elle met in college and always promised to put their friendship first. They make a pact to never cross the line with the other and to remain friends through it all. Fast forward 13 years and these two have put their friendship above everything. They’ve stayed friends through Rhodes moving away, him becoming a professional athlete, through the ups and downs of other romantic relationships and Rhodes becoming a father unexpectedly. Elle became his son’s godmother and their bond is stronger than ever. Now their friendship is being put to the ultimate test – Elle is the new cheerleader for Rhodes’ professional team, which means in order to keep her job, Elle has to stay away from all of the players. But when Elle’s safety is compromised, Rhodes puts his foot down and demands that she live with him. He is sure that no one in their small town will care or notice that she’s there more often than usual. Little does Rhodes know, his best friend is hiding a secret from everyone in their lives and it’s not just that she’s been in love with him for years.
