As soon as I started this book, I knew no other book this month stood a chance at being my favorite. I adore everything Meghan Quinn writes. No one can make me laugh as hard, swoon or blush like she can. The banter between characters in her books are top notch.
So when she announced that she was publishing a new book in a totally new world, I knew I had to read it. I was sent an early ebook copy by her publisher, for which I am so grateful. She also tied in some of my favorite characters of hers into this completely new world of Almond Bay. She has never let me down, and I know she never will.
Let me introduce you to Almond Bay and it’s hilarious residents…
Book Summary:
Hattie is back in Almond Bay after failing her last semester of graduate school. Hattie’s life has been turned upside down after the death of her sister (I will note that her sister’s death is a huge trigger warning that I am not sure is noted in the electronic version I recieved. Cassidy dies off page of breast cancer, leaving behind a small child). Upon return to Almond Bay, Hattie’s long time boyfriend dumps her… because she is ‘boring.’ Red with anger, Hattie packs up her things from his apartment and a bunch of stuff he stole from his famous boss, including a Grammy. Hattie goes to the boss’ house in attempt to get her ex fired. Too bad the boss is her brother’s ex-best friend/enemy, Hayes Farrow. Hayes knows Hattie was with her ex the night the Grammy went missing, so in exchange for his silence about her involvement, Hattie agrees to work for Hayes now that he is out an assistant. Working together everyday makes Hattie realize there is so much more to the story about why her brother hates the famous musician and that he isn’t really the man the media portrays him to be. When the truth comes out about the ex-friends fued, will Hattie have to choose between the man she loves and her family?
Rating:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
No one can make me laugh one page and blush the next like Meghan Quinn. This book is no different. It is one of her spicier books, but the banter, hilarious side characters and references to her other books are TOP NOTCH. If you are a fan of hers already, grab this one ASAP. If you are new to her as an author, this is a great place to start – in this totally new world with new characters. You do not need to read her other books to read this one, but you’ll catch Easter eggs left and right if you’re caught up on her backlist.
