When we moved to the Sunshine State, I knew that  citrus fruit would become a part of our lives. We see orange groves on our drives to Walt Disney World, something we never saw on a car trip in Michigan. The biggest groves of oranges we see on our way is at The Showcase of Citrus!

The Showcase of Citrus is a cute, fresh air attraction off US27 in Clermont. It opened in 1989 and it is a huge estate that grows over 50 types of citrus fruits! You can shop in the country store for everything from wine to honey to jams and flavored sodas, pick your own citrus, feed farm animals, mine for treasure and ride in the orange groves in a Monster Truck.

My parents, my 3 year old and myself spent hours at the Showcase of Citrus one Friday morning and we really could have stayed longer! We parked the car and walked into the attraction to see kangaroos, donkeys, goats and a pony. Beyond the animal enclosures we found the Gem Mine and food trucks.

Next we explored the open air market beyond the Gem Mine where you can shop for food, drinks, pre-picked citrus, book your Monster Truck rides and buy food to feed the animals. There are also rides for your littles to enjoy – a train and a space shuttle to name a few.

Past the market, are the orange groves where you can pick your own oranges to take home. There are also some pre-picked citrus fruits inside of the market that you can mix and match in bags of various sizes to take home with you.

If you choose to go on a Monster Truck ride around the groves, the entrance for that experience is just to the right of the grove entrance.

There is also a themed playground for little kids to enjoy as well as many cute photo opportunities to commemorate your day. We spent about 3 hours at Showcase of Citrus, but we did not go on a Monster Truck ride or have lunch there. You can spend as much of the day at this fresh air attraction as your schedule allows. It is defiantly a very Florida thing to experience. So if you are a local or if you are in Florida for just a short time, you are sure to have a good time among the orange groves of the Showcase of Citrus in Clermont!
