You’re Not Alone

This time of the year is wonderful. All the hot cocoa. All the baking. All the lights. All the laughter. All the joy. It really is a magical season. Though, it can also bring sorrow for many. Whether it is that you’re far away from your family, a break-up, infertility, battling an illness, having lost a loved one…

Whatever it is you’re not alone.

You’re not alone, even though you’re far from your family. You’re not alone, even though your relationship has ended. You’re not alone, that you’re struggling to start a family. You’re not alone, in this fight for your life. You’re not alone, if you’re grieving a loss of a dear family member.

We’ve all been there.

We are all going through something this holiday season. It is important to remember that each and every one of us has our own battle we’re fighting. Each and every one of us needs that extra “season’s greeting”, that extra cookie, that extra twinkle on the tree, that extra smile passing by.

Personally, this time of year I reflect on everything that has happened in past years to bring me to this moment in time. I’ve been far away from family for the holidays and I was sad. I’ve experienced a break-up the day before Christmas and laugh at it now.

My husband and I have experienced infertility, the loss of a baby, and more infertility but I know that this journey has brought us our son and although we would love to give him a sibling, it will come when the time is right. I’ve had family members battling an illness, some currently battling and others have passed – I’ve lost loved ones.

Though, I wasn’t alone.

Christmas is a joyous holiday season, through the grieving and the mourning, the sadness and the loneliness, it brings us all together in our hearts. It helps us to realize that the holiday season is so much more than the presents under the tree or who wins the neighborhood Christmas light contest.

Christmas is about love, about family, and about being thankful for what this past year has brought us all – good or bad.
