Mama. Is it really almost back-to-school season?
Yes. Yes, it is. (Florida public schools start TERRIFYINGLY early — we are basically a couple of weeks away from packed lunches and 6 a.m. alarms, and I’m in denial.) So it’s time to take advantage of tax free shopping for those back to school products for kids and teens.
If you’ve been following Orlando Mom for any length of time, you know I’m raising two sets of kids — older kids in Gen Z and younger ones in Gen Alpha. Which means back-to-school season at my house has always been a multi-front operation with back to school products for kids and teens: tiny socks AND teen water bottles, character lunchboxes AND minimalist backpacks, chocolate-flavored cold medicine AND smartwatches with GPS.
So today I’m rounding up my honest, actual back-to-school must-haves for moms with both sets of kids and the moms that are just holding it all together. These are the back to school products for kids and teens that are making this transition easier in my house, and I think they’ll make yours easier too.
Let’s go. 📚
1. Circular Club — For the Tiny One Heading Back to Preschool or MDO
If you’ve got a baby or toddler heading back to daycare, preschool, or mother’s morning out this fall — Circular Club (also known as the Circular Mom Club) is the back-to-school hack I want every mom of littles to know about.
Here’s the deal: it’s a rotating closet and rental subscription for babies and toddlers ages 0 to 4T. You rent high-quality, curated clothing, swap items monthly, and dramatically cut down on the wild amount of textile waste (and money) that comes with dressing a kid who is somehow OUT of every outfit by the next season.
If you’ve ever bought a too-cute pair of overalls in size 18 months only to watch your kid grow out of them in 3 weeks — this is your sign. With Circular Club, your tiny one is always dressed in adorable, quality pieces that match the season, and when they outgrow them or you’re ready for new looks, you swap. No piles of barely-worn clothes shoved in the donation bag. No “we spent HOW much on a sweater she wore twice.” Just rotate, return, repeat.
Bonus: it’s a beautifully sustainable approach to dressing little ones. As a mom who tries to make values-based choices when I can (a big IIN takeaway — the small daily choices add up), this one is a win on every front.
Use my discount code 50GOOD for 50% OFF!
Best for: babies and toddlers ages 0 to 4T heading into a new fall season
Why it makes mom life easier: less money on outgrown clothes, less waste, and your tiny one always looks adorably ready for the season.
2. Schuman Water Bottle — For the Teen Who Wants Something Cool to Carry
If you’ve parented a teen, you know two things to be true: they need to hydrate, and they will refuse to carry a water bottle that does not pass their aesthetic test.
The Schuman Water Bottle is the rare combo of cute + durable + actually-keeps-water-cold-all-day. It’s the kind of bottle that doesn’t scream “your mom bought this for school.” It just looks good — which is the whole battle with teens.
Refill it from filtered water at home (you know how I feel about this — if you missed it, read What Every Florida Mom Should Know About Her Tap Water), throw it in the backpack, and your teen is set for the day.
Best for: middle school, high school
Why it makes mom life easier: they’ll actually carry it. Hydrated teen = better focus, fewer afternoon meltdowns.
3. Zubii Kids Socks — Because the Little Girls Need a Personality Statement
Listen, my little ones do not care about much when we’re racing out the door at 7:14 a.m. — but they DO care about their socks. And Zubii Kids Socks has cracked the code on this one.
Bright, fun, patterned, knee-high, ruffle-trimmed, ankle-length — Zubii does all of it, and they look adorable peeking out of uniform shoes or sneakers. They’re the secret weapon for getting a kid out the door happy because she got to pick “the cool socks” today.
I also love that they hold up — wash after wash, they stay bright and don’t lose their shape, which is more than I can say for half the sock drawer.
Best for: little girls (toddler through early elementary)
Why it makes mom life sweeter: zero negotiation in the morning. They WANT to put their shoes on.
4. Dr Cocoa Tylenol — Because Back-to-School Means Back-to-Germs
Mamas with younger kids, hear me: Dr Cocoa Tylenol is the chocolate-flavored cold and cough medicine that is going to save your sanity this fall. It tastes like chocolate. Kids actually take it without a fight. There is no negotiating, bribing, or chasing your sick kid around the kitchen with a measuring spoon.
If you’ve been through a back-to-school cold cycle before, you already know what’s coming. The first three weeks of school are a germ exchange of biblical proportions. Stock up NOW.
Best for: elementary-aged kids
Why it makes mom life easier: less fighting at a moment when you’re already exhausted and your kid is already miserable. Pure gold.
5. Cosmo Smart Watch — For the Teen Who’s Not Quite Ready for a Phone
This one is for the moms quietly stressing about when to give their teen a phone. The Cosmo Smart Watch is the perfect middle step.
Calls. Texts. GPS. Safety. You can stay in touch with your kid without handing them a portal to social media, TikTok scroll holes, and group chat drama. It’s the connection tool without the smartphone chaos.
I’ve been clear on Orlando Mom that I’m careful about how much tech my kids have access to — but this is a different category. This isn’t an iPad. This isn’t a phone. This is a SAFETY device that lets us reach each other when he’s at practice, with friends, or just at school late. Big yes from me.
Best for: middle school teens, ages roughly 11–16
Why it makes mom life easier: peace of mind without giving up the screen-time fight.
6. TickTalk Smart Watch — For the 8-to-12 Set
For the younger kids (think the 8–12 sweet spot), the TickTalk Smart Watch is my pick. Calling, texting, GPS, kid-friendly interface — all without giving an elementary kid a phone.
This is the one I’d put on a kid who’s:
- Walking to/from school or the bus stop
- Going to a friend’s house
- At after-school care or sports practice
- Riding their bike around the neighborhood
- Going to camp or sleepovers
It gives parents real peace of mind and gives kids real independence in a way that doesn’t open the door to the bigger tech conversation yet. Win-win.
Best for: ages 8–12
Why it makes mom life easier: they get independence, you get connection, nobody downloads TikTok.
7. Crispy Fruit by Crispy Green — The Lunchbox MVP
Back to my IIN-grad heart for a second: I am ALWAYS reading labels. And the lunchbox snack aisle is a labyrinth of garbage masquerading as health food.
Crispy Fruit by Crispy Green is one of the rare snacks I can actually feel great packing. It’s just freeze-dried fruit. No added sugar. No preservatives. No weird stuff. Real apples, peaches, pineapple, mango, Asian pear — that’s it.
Kids LOVE the crunch. It tastes like candy to them because real fruit IS naturally sweet. And the single-serving pouches drop right into a lunchbox with zero prep.
This is my “I haven’t grocery shopped yet but the kids need to eat” lifeline.
Best for: all ages (and honestly, moms too)
Why it makes mom life sweeter: clean ingredients, kid-approved, zero prep.
8. Ello Clean Start — The Lunchbox + Hydration Reset I’ve Been Looking For
If you’ve ever pulled a forgotten water bottle out of a backpack on a Friday afternoon and recoiled at what was growing inside — same, mama. Same.
Ello’s Clean Start collection is exactly what its name suggests: a back-to-school refresh on water bottles, food storage, and lunchbox containers that are genuinely easy to clean, BPA-free, and built to last more than one school year. We’re talking glass + silicone water bottles, leak-proof food containers, snack-sized portions, and lunch-ready meal prep pieces that hold up to real kid use.
As a mom who pays attention to what touches my family’s food and water (you know how I feel about clean inputs — go read What Every Florida Mom Should Know About Her Tap Water if you missed it), I LOVE that Ello uses materials I actually feel good about. Glass interiors mean nothing weird leaching into your kid’s water or lunch all day. Wide mouths mean they actually rinse clean. Dishwasher-safe means I’m not standing at the sink trying to scrub a Stanley with a pipe cleaner at 9 p.m.
The Clean Start collection also fits perfectly with my IIN-trained brain — your kid’s water bottle and lunch container are touched MULTIPLE times a day. The materials matter. The cleanability matters. The longevity matters.
Pieces I’d grab for the back-to-school season:
- Glass water bottle with silicone sleeve — for older kids and teens who care about how the bottle looks AND moms who want a clean drink
- Kids’ water bottles with leak-proof lids — for the littles whose backpacks I’ve cried over
- Reusable food storage containers — for snacks, lunches, after-school meal prep
- Bento-style lunch containers — visually appealing, kids eat more when food is organized
Refill them all from clean, filtered water at home and you’ve solved two problems at once: clean container + clean water.
Best for: all ages — there’s a Clean Start piece for every kid in the house
Why it makes mom life easier: less scrubbing, less worrying about what’s touching your family’s food and water, less buying replacements halfway through the school year.
9. Magnetic Word Builder — Hands-On Literacy That Works on the Fridge
If you’ve been quietly wondering how to give your kid a little extra literacy practice this year — without adding another app, screen, or worksheet pile — let me introduce you to Magnetic Word Builder.
These are gorgeously designed, hands-on magnetic letter and word-building sets that turn your fridge (or a magnet board, or a road-trip cookie sheet — yes, that’s a mom hack) into a literacy playground. Kids can practice sight words, build their own spelling, sound out words phonetically, and play with language in a tactile way that screens just cannot replicate.
As a mom who has been LOUD on this site about saying no to AI and excess tech in elementary classrooms (read my piece on that here if you missed it), this is exactly the kind of product I want more of in my house. Real letters. Real hands. Real brain-building. Zero blue light.
A few ways I’d use it for back-to-school:
- Morning fridge prompts — write a sight word for the day, or a sweet note your kid has to “read”
- After-school decompression — pull out a magnet kit instead of handing them a tablet while you make dinner
- Spelling practice that feels like play — bonus: they’re learning without realizing it
- Sibling-friendly — older kids can build longer words and stories, littles can do letter recognition with the same set
- Road trip / waiting room kit — pop the magnets on a small cookie sheet and you’ve got an instant literacy game
It’s the kind of product that does double duty — educational AND screen-free — and it grows with your kid as they move from “what letter is this?” to “I can spell my whole name!” to building actual sentences.
Best for: preschool through early elementary (and honestly, fun for older kids too)
Why it makes mom life easier: quiet, engaged, hands-on literacy practice that doesn’t require you to monitor a screen or print another worksheet.
10. illo Sleep Mask — Because 6 A.M. Alarms Are Back, Mama
Every minute of sleep counts when you’re a parent — and back-to-school season is where our own sleep goes to die. The 6 a.m. alarms. The lunches packed at 10 p.m. The one kid up at 5:30 needing help with a permission slip. If we’re going to survive this season, we’ve got to protect our rest.
The illo Sleep Mask is a first-of-its-kind wearable sleep companion designed to help you rest better ANYWHERE — your own bed, a plane, a hotel room, or the couch after a long tournament weekend. It blocks light, muffles sound, and wraps your head or neck in ultra-soft comfort.
The proprietary plush core is encased in breathable bamboo mesh and finished with a blend of mulberry silk and Modal against the skin (basically the softest thing that’s ever touched my face). It’s compact, comforting, and comes in a sleek nylon drawstring pouch — perfect for tossing into a bag when you’re traveling with the kids or heading to a hotel.
Comes in three dreamy shades: Bedtime Blue, Midnight Blue, and Violet Dream.
You know how I’m always saying self-care is the simple stuff — walks, water, real food, real rest? This is that. Better sleep changes EVERYTHING: your patience, your parenting, your presence, your immune system, your mood. If you’re not on the back-to-school must-haves list yourself this year, mama — start here.
Best for: every mom, every dad, every tired parent (and honestly, teenagers with 6 a.m. alarms too)
Why it makes mom life sweeter: better sleep = better everything.
11. Manta Sleep Mask SOUND V2 — For the Mom Who Needs Blackout AND Sound Control
If you are a light sleeper. If your partner snores. If your neighbor’s dog barks at 3 a.m. If your teenager comes home late. If you sleep on your side. If your nervous system is hanging on by a thread by the end of the school day — the Manta Sleep Mask SOUND V2 is going to change your life.
Here’s what makes it different from every other sleep mask on the market: it gives you full control over the two senses that impact your sleep the most — SIGHT and SOUND. In one product.
The design includes:
- Ultra-thin Bluetooth® headphones nestled inside a ventilated strap — play a sleep meditation, white noise, brown noise, an audiobook, or a calming playlist without earbuds falling out or headband pressure
- C-shaped eye cups that deliver total blackout with ZERO pressure on your eyes (game-changer for anyone who’s tried and hated flat-back sleep masks)
- Side-sleep friendly design so it doesn’t shift or dig in when you turn over
The result: unmatched comfort as you listen to the sounds that soothe you — so you get the deep sleep you need to fuel your day. Total blackout. Total sound control. Zero eye pressure. It’s the premium option for moms who need REAL sleep, not “close enough” sleep.
Best for: side sleepers, light sleepers, moms who love sleep meditations, or anyone who needs both blackout AND sound (I’m looking at you dad!)
Why it makes mom life easier: you finally get the rest your nervous system has been begging for.
12. DAGS — For the Parents Still in the Baby + Toddler Zone
For the moms and dads still deep in the diaper bag / snack bag / everything-in-one-bag life — meet DAGS, the diaper bag that was literally designed by dads, for dads (and every parent who’s ever hauled a baby, a preschooler, and their own life across a parking lot at once).
The OG DAG has it all:
- Built-in suspension for easy access — grab what you need without tearing the whole bag apart
- Clutch hook for hanging on strollers, chairs, cribs, hooks, whatever
- Spartan strap for one-arm holds (because your other arm is holding a child, always)
- Wipe access on the outside — no digging
- Smooth-operation zippers that don’t get stuck when you’re already stressed
- Fits EVERY type of bottle (praise be)
- Comes with a “soiled” laundry bag for the inevitable outfit change
If your household is still in the baby-to-toddler zone (or you have a friend who is), this is the bag that gets it. Everything you need. Nothing you don’t. Perfect for daycare drop-off, travel, road trips, sports weekends with the toddler in tow, grandparent visits — all of it.
Best for: parents of babies and toddlers (0–4)
Why it makes mom life easier: every parent-of-a-baby chaos moment gets 20% easier when the bag is actually designed for real life.
13. EaZyHold + Strumling — Grip Support That Belongs in Every Classroom
If you’re a mom of a kiddo who needs a little extra grip support — whether that’s a fine motor delay, a sensory difference, a hand tremor, a physical difference, or just tiny hands that struggle to hold a chunky marker — meet the product I want every teacher and parent to know about: EaZyHold.
EaZyHold is a soft silicone grip aid that adapts to ANY tool, pencil, utensil, or art supply and gives kids a secure, comfortable hold. It’s colorful, reusable, and works with the supplies your kids already have — no need to buy anything special. It even works with sports equipment like bats, rackets, and jump ropes. As a baseball mom, I’m already imagining how useful this is for kiddos learning to grip a bat for the first time.
Even better — EaZyHold is used in over 20,000 schools, hospitals, and care facilities worldwide. It’s the only grip aid on the market made from 100% food-grade silicone, which matters a LOT when your kid is chewing on a pencil at their desk (we’ve all been there). Teachers and parents love it because it just snaps into any routine without a learning curve.
And if your kiddo loves music? EaZyHold also makes Strumling — a brand new pick-holding device that enables children with limited fine motor skills to strum string instruments independently. This is a genuine GAME-CHANGER for inclusion in music classrooms. Every kid deserves to make music, and Strumling makes that possible without needing an adult to hold the pick for them.
I love products that quietly build inclusion into the everyday. EaZyHold and Strumling are exactly that — small, thoughtful tools that make classrooms, music rooms, art rooms, and ballparks more accessible for kids who need a little extra help holding on. And moms of neurotypical kids will love the grip support too. Everyone wins.
Best for: kiddos who need extra grip support — including kids with special needs, fine motor delays, sensory differences, or just little hands learning something new
Why it makes mom life easier: kids can participate independently in more of the school day (and after-school activities) without needing constant hand-over-hand adult help.
A Few More Back-to-School Picks That Fit Right In
While we’re here, here are a few more back to school products for kids and teens going in my cart this season:
- A bento-style lunchbox (think Bentgo or PlanetBox) — keeps everything separate, easy to pack, kids eat more when food is visually organized
- A reusable ice pack set — because Florida lunch boxes need to stay cold ALL day
- A stylish, lightweight backpack — pick a brand that lasts a few years; the cheap ones fall apart by November
- A school-year planner or family wall calendar — for the mom trying to keep practices, half-days, and field trips straight
- A solid allergy med — Florida back-to-school = allergy season hitting hard. Talk to your pediatrician about what’s right for your kid.
- Hair accessories for the little girls — claw clips, scrunchies, headbands, the whole drawer
- A new daily sunscreen for the kids — because school recess is OUTSIDE and recess is at the hottest part of the day. (My standing reminder: read our Sun Protection: What You Need to Know guide and lock in the daily SPF habit.)
- A water-bottle-friendly bag, (my Wanderfull Hydrobag from the summer must-haves article is still my daily carry — pickup line ready, hydrated, hands free) but they make one for kids too!
A Final Word From One Orlando Mom to Another
