Halloween is such a fun time of year. Dressing up, sharing goodies and playing little tricks are great holiday traditions. Here are a few of my favorite tricks and treats!
Trick
Add plastic spiders to your ice cube trays before freezing. Place them in drinks and give your family and friends a fun surprise! With little ones be sure to use sippy cups if you choose to give them these cubes so they can’t get a hold of small parts.
Trick – Flying Bats
You can make these fun bats very quickly using minimal materials. 1. Cut bat shape from black paper. I folded mine in half so it was quicker to cut. 2. Using glue or tape, adhere string onto back of bat. 3. Hang bat in a fun place! I put mine on the ceiling fan so that when it is on, the bats appear to be flying.
Trick Or Treat – Smell My Feet Craft
1. Supplies = black paper, white paint, paintbrush, embellishments (any you like) and little feet! I used non-toxic washable paint and a large brush to paint the feet white.
2. Completely cover the bottom of your little one’s feet.
3. Place down on paper, it doesn’t need to be perfect!
4. After the footprints dry add eyes with any embellishments you want to use. I used sequins adhered with a glue stick. I then added some funny wording and a dry brushed border. The whole project from beginning to end only took around 20 minutes. Now we have a fun decoration and keepsake to treasure!
Treat – Salted and Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
You can boil and salt your pumpkin seeds before roasting them to cut back on baking time, and make sure the insides are salted as well as the outsides!
1. After removing the seeds from pumpkin and pulp, add to a pot of salted water. Boil for 10 minutes.
2. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Take boiled seeds and coat well in an olive oil and salt mixture. Place on baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until they start to brown. Stir them at 5 minutes bake time.
3. Enjoy your beautifully salted and roasted pumpkin seeds!
Treat – Pumpkin Beauty Treatment
Did you know pumpkins are rich in Vitamins A, C and E? Don’t throw those pumpkin guts away! Use them in the shower to make your skin healthy! After carving pumpkins and removing the seeds, place the remaining pulp into the blender and blended until very smooth. Keep the puree in the fridge in a tightly closed container. Use in the shower to give your skin a vitamin treatment as well as lightly scent it pumpkin. You can also add a little sugar to your puree to make a scrub and use as an exfoliator. What a nice surprise beauty treatment!
Oh man, I love the ghost feet!! We r going to do that for sure.
So many fun Halloween things to do! I love pumpkin seeds!!
Great tricks and treats. I think I’m going to be doing the ghost feet one with my toddler. She’ll love that.
Love these ideas! My kids would love the smell my feet craft because they love telling me how bad my feet smell from sandals in the summer time!
