Are you headed to a Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party? We’ve rounded up some tips that we think you should know before heading to Magic Kingdom!
Before You Go
-
Buy Tickets Early
These parties often sell out, especially closer to Halloween. Plan ahead. -
Dress Smart for Costumes
Costumes are encouraged (even for adults!), but remember Florida evenings can still be warm. Breathable, comfy costumes with good walking shoes are key. Also bring a change of clothes for little ones if their costume is itchy/hot. -
Arrive Early (Even Before 4 PM!)
Though the party officially starts at 7 PM, guests with party tickets can enter as early as 4 PM. Use those 3 bonus hours to ride rides, eat dinner, or explore the park with lighter crowds.
During the Party
- Don’t Overload on Candy Early
Trick-or-treat stations are everywhere. Start slow—Disney is generous with candy, and it gets heavy fast! Bring Ziploc bags or collapsible totes to stash overflow. -
Pick a Few Priorities
The party has a LOT going on: rare character meet-and-greets, the Boo-To-You Parade, fireworks, dance parties, and rides. Let everyone choose 1-2 must-dos and build your night around those. -
See the 2nd Parade
The Boo-To-You Parade runs twice (usually around 9:15 and 11:15 PM). The second showing is less crowded—a great time for a front-row spot on Main Street while the littler kids rest in the stroller.
-
Fireworks Are a Must
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular is only shown during the party and is a highlight with castle projections, lasers, and fireworks. Stake out a spot in front of the castle 20–30 minutes beforehand.
With Kids in Tow
- Use Glow Sticks or Light-Up Toys
Helps you keep track of your kids in the dark, and avoids the temptation of buying pricey light-up toys in the park. -
Stroller = Lifesaver
A stroller gives tired legs a break (and it’s extra storage for candy and costume pieces) so regardless of your kids’ ages, bring along those strollers. You’ll thank yourself when your kids meltdown – because let’s be real, it’s a late night for everyone. -
Bring a Few Snacks & Water
Party food is fun but lines can be long and kids get hangry. Bring a few tried-and-true snacks and refillable water bottles.
Extra Tips
- Magic Shots with Photopass Photographers
Photographers offer Halloween-themed Magic Shots only during the party. Look for ones with spooky effects or rare characters. Memory Maker is a great addition to your trip (or to your annual pass) so that you can capture and keep some of these fun memories. -
Don’t Miss Special Ride Overlays
Certain rides (like Space Mountain and Mad Tea Party) get Halloween overlays during the party. Don’t miss these special touches to your experience. -
Bring a Portable Charger
Between the My Disney Experience app, photos, and flashlight use, your phone will need backup juice. To make sure your Disney bag is packed, check out this article! -
Take a Midday Break
If you’re going to Magic Kingdom earlier in the day, head back to the hotel for a nap or swim mid-afternoon. A well-rested kid (and mom) = a way more fun party night.
