My second book on my Most Anticipated Reads of 2023 list is out in the world!

Book #4 in the “Love, Me and the 303” series, “Sing Your Secrets,” is here and it is even better than I could have ever dreamed it would be.

Going into it, I knew only this about the book: It contains a love triangle but no cheating, it’s spicy, music is at the core of the book and it has a happily ever after. That’s all.

But I knew I needed to read it. I am obsessed with Kay’s writing. I’d read her grocery list if she’d let me. She is so talented and I love the depth in all of her writing.

Kay Cove has done it again, Reese and Miles’ book is an instant favorite. The best of the series in my opinion… and I have adored the three predecessors to this one.

Dare I say it?!

Dare I put this out into the universe so early in the year?!

Here I go…

It’ll be in my top 10 easily this year, probably top 5.

Maybe #1.

I cannot say it’s my favorite book of 2023… can I?!

It’s too early to call it. It’s only April!

But I don’t know how another book will top this one.

Book Summary:

Reese is going through the motions at work as a paralegal, feeling unfulfilled. She’s also been getting flowers delivered daily from her now famous ex, making her feel all sorts of off-kilter. Thinking about Petey makes her think of the career in music she walked away from after their messy breakup. One day on her lunch break she walks past The Garage, an old, rundown, once upon a time music hall. Reese has so many memories wrapped up in the building and she’s shocked to see the chains and lock off the fence for the first time in a long while. She wonders in and meets Miles, the man in charge of fixing up The Garage for his cousin and her husband. Miles is back in Denver to lick his wounds after years spent trying to make it in the music industry in LA. He is so sure he won’t stay in Denver for long that he turns down Reese’s offer to exchange numbers to meet up again.

Weeks go by and each cannot get the other out of their head. One night Reese literally comes to Miles’ rescue and they go back to her place. He once again turns down her advances, which annoys Reese to no end since she’s not used to being turned down. They agree to a date first so they can get to know each other better. Once their relationship becomes official, they face hardships and obstacles. However, unlike many book couples, these two actually communicate with each other at every turn and never lose faith in the trust they’ve built. Let’s hear it for no third act breakup and good communication!

Reese and Miles both are in unsettled places in their lives and while this usually means disaster for their happily ever after, Kay writes their trust and communication so honestly that they work through issues together, always pushing for what is best for the other.

Like the other books in this series, “Sing Your Secrets” is a standalone, but knowing all of the back stories of Reese’s friends enhances the story. I loved getting a glimpse into the other girls’ lives and of course I adored the appearance of the ultimate book boyfriend, Joel Lewis, AND his cats Felices and Kitty. Joel Lewis can do no wrong and I loved his encouragement to Reese to pursue her feelings for Miles.

Rating:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Sing Your Secrets is an easy 5 stars for me – maybe the easiest 5 stars I have ever given a book. 4/5 spice for more than one open door scene and innuendo throughout but the spice does not take away from the plot and never felt unnecessary or went overboard.

Favorite Quotes:

“You picked love. Love is not a safety net.”

“Right now, my emotions are telling me this girl is important. This moment is significant.”

“I’m your dad. You owe me nothing. It’s as simple as that. Like I said… you’ll see one day.”

“It’d be a huge deal with me.”

“I just want a guy who talks to me and listens to me.”

“Concentrated, unadulterated, unsurpassable.. Joy.”

“It’s that simple, man. Be honest. Just… sing your secrets.”

“Who knew forgiveness could have a ripple effect.”

“One day when I have a daughter, I’ll encourage her to live a life that makes her happy. I won’t help mend her broken heart just to expect praise and repayment. I’ll love her exactly the way she is – no matter how different we may be.”
