October’s Book of the Month is If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia!
It really is the book that’ll make you believe you’re back in 1997 because it’s the perfect mix of Gilmore Girls and When Harry Met Sally. From the first page, I was instantly transported to the 90’s and it was the coziest, comfiest read. I couldn’t dream up a more perfect fall comfort read.
So grab a cozy blanket, a warm drink and get ready to binge read your new favorite fall book.
If It Makes You Happy Summary:
Michelle moves next door to Cliff to run her parent’s bed and breakfast after her mother passes. She’s left her life at home behind to keep her mom’s dream afloat until her younger sister is able to take over when she graduates college. Running the inn proves to be more challenging than Michelle thought and she begins to rely on the town more and more. Her friendship with Cliff develops into more than either of them were prepared for and as her time in town comes to an end, they both have some big decisions to make.
Michelle and Cliff are both divorced and in need of someone to remind them to take care of themselves, they’re each others perfect compliment. They’re a slow burn but it was slow in the most delicious way and them becoming lovers (finally) was so good. His girls are the perfect 90s teens and the town is full of all the funky side characters you want in small town romance.
