Until a month ago, I had never set foot in Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure. I know, I know! We’ve been in Orlando for almost three years and we’ve been to Disney at least 100 times since we moved, but Universal wasn’t on our radar.

Why?

We always assumed that since most of the rides have taller height requirements, it wouldn’t be as fun for the four of us. But a sudden interest in the Harry Potter books for my husband and 7 year old got us thinking about how cool her reaction would be to Diagon Alley and to seeing the Hogwarts Castle for herself… so we took a look at the rides and realized just how much of it our 5 year old could do (she’s 44 inches tall for perspective).

Before taking the girls with us for the first time, we wanted to spend an adults only day at the parks to get a better lay of the land. The peace of mind in knowing ahead of time where food, shaded areas and bathrooms are makes taking kids a little less stressful. I guess the ease in which we made an adults only day happen is a perk of living in the Theme Park Capital of the World.

Shout out to grandma and grandpa who watched the girls for us to make this day happen.

We are new annual passholders at Universal Studios – we opted for the two park passes so that we can easily move between both parks (and ride the Hogwarts Express for the full Harry Potter world experience)…
