‘Tis the season for so many things, right? We just survived Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. Now it’s back to school for our kids to survive what one meme called the “three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas that feel like the last lap in Mario Kart where the music is all fast and gets really stressful.”
Nailed it.
So is there something us moms can do to help our families not just barely make it through and survive this holiday season, but actually make the most of it and enjoy it?
YES!
And it’s actually two things: slow down and serve.
For a firstborn, type A, full time, work-outside-the-home mom like me, I promptly busted out laughing out loud after typing that.
Slow down?! HAAA!!
Serve?! Haaahahaha! With that time???
But then, I realized, if I don’t slow down and find ways to serve, this is not going to be the holiday season I really want.
To be honest, I want to spend more time with my hubby and kids. I want us to slow down long enough to make Christmas cookies and sit down in the living room to look at the tree. And I want us to make sure the holiday season is not just about us and what we want.
The holiday season is more meaningful when we love and serve others.
So in the spirit of serving, helping & loving others, here’s a list of opportunities to volunteer in Central Florida that are family and kid friendly.
