Happy New Year friends! I hope you all had a great 2025 and are ready to tackle your 2026 reading goals. Our first book club pick was one of my top 5 reads of 2025 and I cannot wait for you all to enjoy this one like I did!
January’s book of the month is Bluebird Gold by Denvey Perry!
I love every single Montana town Devney has created, but this one is my favorite so far. The 80s vibes are TOP TIER and the winter setting made me want to cuddle into a blanket with a hot coffee.
I love Devney’s romantic suspense stories as she weaves the perfect balance of plot, romance, spice and suspense. She takes me from full body goosebumps as she revealed layers slowly to unravel the story around the gold to sweating and squealing from the spice the next chapter.
The audio was also spectacular. Connor Crais plays Casi, the sheriff and Samantha Brentmoor plays Ilsa, the new substitute teacher in town. I love these two narrators on the own… but together?! They’re perfection. Their voices go so well together and I couldn’t wait until I can start listening again!
Bluebird Gold Summary
After the death of her dad, Ilsa moves to his cottage on Cotter’s Lake to pack up his things and see if she can make sense of the letters she’s received. But strange things start happening at the cabin and even local law enforcement doesn’t believe her. Cosi, the town sheriff, cannot keep the new to town teacher out of his mind and finds himself bending over backwards to make sure she is safe. Going so far as to demand she stay with him and his son when it becomes clear that the cabin isn’t a safe place for her to be anymore. Will Cosi be able to determine who is threatening Isla before it is too late? Will they be able to find the gold that Isla’s dad was so sure was out in the woods?
