October’s Book of the Month is The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley!

We’ve read another of Lucy’s books in book club, and it even landed itself on our list of favorite reads that year. Lucy’s books are twisty, mystery style stories that keep you on your toes until the very last page and The Midnight Feast is no different. This story is crafted between the past and the present, the forest and the town and those that belong and those who desperately want to be included. I listened to this on audio and I’d recommend it to anyone who love audiobooks – but slow the audio down a bit (if you listen at excellerated speeds like me so you can really catch as much as you can. Lucy is the master at laying down 1000 small clues along the way that will add into the bigger picture… eventually.

The Midnight Feast Summary:

Opening weekend of The Manor has arrived. This all inclusive, luxury hotel is the perfect place to get away from regular life for a while. No penny was spared in making this hotel the next “it” destination. But old friends of the owner’s are there, whether they know it or not, and the forrest is holding more secrets and tales than anyone realizes before the weekend comes to a deadly end.

Told from the perspective of Francesca (The Manor’s owner), Owen (her husband), Bella (a guest), Eddie (a staff member) and DI Walker (the police detective on scene in the present who is responsible for the ongoing murder mystery) – so keeping track of each of their stories is critical to understanding each twist as it comes.

The Midnight Feast Pacing Guide:

The book is set in 6 main times – the prologue, opening night, the day before the solstice, solstice, the evening of the feast, after and two months later. But each is intertwined with each other to really immerse you into both the past and the present, so just buckle up for a wild ride.
