Sunset at the Zoo — presented by Orlando Health — returns to the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Sanford on Friday, July 24, 2026, and this month’s theme is a celebration of Black & African American Heritage. Expect music, art, storytelling, food, and interactive experiences honoring the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black & African American communities.
This is the third Sunset at the Zoo of the 2026 season — and if you missed May’s AAPI Heritage kickoff, this is your do-over. Put it on the family calendar.

This month’s Sunset at the Zoo honors Black & African American heritage through music, art, storytelling, food, and interactive experiences. Expect:

Why I Love Sunset at the Zoo for Central Florida Families
I said it about the May event and I’ll say it again for July — this event is DIALED IN for real mom life:
1. The timing is chef’s kiss. 5–8 p.m. is the magic family-with-kids window. Past the worst of the Florida heat, before the meltdown hour, and you’re home in time for actual bedtime. Merciful, mama.
2. The price point. Six dollars per person online. The $46 Family 4-Pack covers dinner AND admission for four. You literally can’t get a fast-food meal for a family of four at what this evening costs.
3. It’s a real cultural moment, not a token one. I love that Central Florida Zoo is building an entire year of Sunset events around meaningful heritage celebrations. Our kids learn culture by EXPERIENCING it — through music, food, art, and story — not by reading about it on a worksheet. This is the good stuff.
4. It supports a nonprofit conservation mission. Central Florida Zoo is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and is one of a small number of privately operated, non-profit zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). Every ticket directly fuels their conservation work with more than 350 animals in their care. Ticket dollars = actual conservation impact. Beautiful stacking of wins.
